What they say: “Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday. It is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.”
What I Say: When I was young, Memorial Day was all about family, barbecues, and playing games in the yard with my cousins. But now that I am older, I understand its true meaning – and am glad for the chance to express my gratitude to those in the military for the sacrifices they have made.
The photo is of my brave father-in-law, who died in service to his country.
